To expand on what Snerkie said card collectors aren't the target audience for Suckpax, which is why the pricing may seem out of line with what we are used to. The target for Suckpax is the a group of collectors (underground art collectors) who tend to view the entire thing as a limited work of art rather than a trading card set. . .

Think Twilight. . . Twilight cards (the ones that weren't massively overproduced) sell for insane amounts of money because many of them are selling to Twilight fans rather than card collectors.

The Indy Jones logo. . . not acceptable, really, but none of the rights holders seem to care, and I'm tired of caring on their behalf.

I think the Justice League seller got a good deal (at the time -- before the Inkworks implosion the Justice League sketches seemed to be a little more difficult to find than most sketches, and tended to sell for pretty decent money), and is losing their shirt now.

seems this Pink set was / is from The Sketch Card Studio .. who have been terrible at letting folks know what they are up to w set releases .. imo

I had a conversation with Nate recently on his FB page, it sounds like The Sketch Card Studio is going away, and reverting back to him as Sad Littles.

The conversation then got interesting when he revealed he wasn't planning on putting out sets anymore . . . no packs, or anything like that, it sounds like they are just generating card stock that will be available from the artists participating in the 'set.'

Perhaps that is what 'Pink' is. . . I'm not sure, but that sounds like a terrible idea to me. . .

that stinks .. there were so many sets planned - even had preview cards from some chicago con awhile back .. cowboys & indian girls, doug riggsby humor set, legends and lore 2 .. that is more than a little sad .. ( get it? sad littles .. nvrmind )

I agree, post on Nathan's Facebook page and show some interest in their stuff, it could sway him, I dunno. I've always thought their releases were very high quality, and the ones for the titles I was into I've always loved. Damsels and Dinos is still one of my favorite sets.

new conversation: Rittenhouse used to be the mafia/police about getting all their sketch cards back from artists (even if they were "messed-up"), but recently more & more unintended uncut blanks have ended up on eBAY ... I've seen Women of Marvel, DC Legacy, etc.

Questions:
(#1) If an artist from the original set draws a commission on an authentic blank sketch card, what is it? Do we consider it a proof? Is it just a PSC?

(#2) A few sets never had proofs/returns, like DC Legacy. What is an uncut drawn DC Legacy sketch card?

1. The issue really is that the blanks are out there. . . the cardboard adds a lot of value to the card, and is what differentiates a PSC from a non-PSC, so it's technically an aftermarket card or proof.

Okay, let's talk about BLANK sketch cards.
Even if you buy one on eBAY ... you have to pay an artist to draw on it.
You might be $200 into one of these aftermarkets. That can NOT be a good value.
Here's recent blank sales:

The PINK sketch blanks were part of another project that never got off the ground.. fell through.. didnt make it.. whatever.... so Nathan distributed some to the artists he's worked with before, including myself, to draw and sell direct to market. The concept was we would draw 2 cards for him to sell.. and keep the rest for ourselves. I have blanks but have not had time to draw on them yet. I still owe Nathan 2 cards which I hope to draw on sooner than later. From what I understand some of the sets Nathan had planned will eventually be produced.. just not in the manner or how you might expect. So.. if you are looking forward to some of these releases.. there is still a pulse in a few of them.. however that's all I think I'm allowed to say about that.

Holy crap. I bet you could easily get a comission of something same quality (or even better) for less than $1,000+ than that Walking Dead one. I understand (to a degree) the Groening fetching a high price but it's a picture of a bunch of zombies...am i missing something important?

It does seem odd, but there are reasons sketches sell for more than plain old art. . .

First, they are licensed.
Second there is a built in collector base for cards.
Third there is a limited supply because it is from a specific set (artificial, sure, but it exists)

Ultimately, from many perspectives it isn't rational. . .

that WD sketch is a 9 card puzzle .. 9 cards .. that could be broken up and sold panel by panel by the buyer

would they still be worth more than they paid for if they were sold off as singles? they'd have to get $142 per card to break even.

I do get the whole "part of a collection" kind of thing but still...$1000+ for 9 sketch cards seems a bit...a lot of money and i don't see $1,000 worth of art there or a name that would be recognisable to many people (like the Matt Groening one is)
