Question about Comics i've NEVER understood...

Why are first appearances (cameo) worth less than first (full) appearances? I've never understood this for the life of me. Can anyone give me a logical reason(s)?

Probably because a cameo is just that - normally the next issue they're presented in a much larger way and that's what collectors want.

yeah, i agree, since it's a pretty good look at him, and not a one-inch tiny cameo.

I'm talking about all comic books...it's like this for every comic. Gambit, Archangel, Venom, etc, etc...

Me as a collector i want the first thing they appeared in. (the first time ever seen) I think their first appearance should be more...

I'd have to agree with TedDastickJr and the opinion that it's much more better for a full acknowledged appearance than a tiny cameo that's pretty insignificance. A lot of characters can make cameos and not get a full appearance.

i remember reading about cameos and hidden 1st appearances as it relates to venom .. in some old Wizard magazine issue ..

it wasnt a cameo in Amazing Spiderman .. it was web of spiderman ..
did a quick ebay search of "1st app venom" and i think i found it .. Web of Spider-Man #18

it's also true of x-23 .. think some old issue had a test tube labelled x-23

kinda not special w just a blurb imo, but to a completist very valuable story-wise i guess.

You know a book(s) that pre-dates that book and has "Venom" in it?

Marvel Age #12 (black costume preview)

Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-Man #90 pre-dates Secret Wars #8. (Spider-Man is wearing a black costume)

I have both of those books...

Me personally, i don't consider the costume Venom, but the costume + Eddie Brock = Venom

But, i'm aware that the costume is considered "Venom."

All these people "Venom" has attached to since Eddie Brock don't mean squat to me, personally...
